Ed’s story starts early. He’s been hooked on performing since he was eight, but if you let him tell it, he’s been getting laughs since the very first breath—he claims his delivery room debut got a chuckle out of the doctor. That sense of humor? Still going strong.

Off camera, Ed’s a single dad who raised two remarkable daughters—his proudest role by far—and the devoted human to Bella, a Jack Russell who’s been his sidekick for a decade. For a moment, it almost felt like I was by the ocean, even though the only waves in sight were the rolling hills. And yes, there’s a faint whiff of horse farm on the air, but it somehow fits—this is Sylmar, after all, and the little bit of country charm just makes it feel more real.

Fourth of July is almost here, and you can feel it in the air. Fireworks stands are cropping up in every parking lot, the supermarket shelves are stripped of hot dog buns, and somewhere nearby, someone’s already grilling. On paper, it’s Independence Day—the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, back in 1776, when a group of rebellious colonists decided to make it official and split from Britain. For most Americans, it’s about cookouts, family, and that unmistakable sense of flag-waving pride.

But let’s be real: just like the country itself, this holiday is messy. For every “Land of the Free” chant, there’s another voice reminding us of stolen land and promises that never made it past the parchment. America’s story isn’t just about fireworks and freedom. It’s about treaties—some honored, most ignored—and communities still fighting for recognition.

Take the Cherokee Nation. Their struggle for a non-voting delegate in Congress—a right promised in an 1835 treaty—remains unresolved. Native American representation in D.C. is still rare, but there’s progress. Deb Haaland, from the Laguna Pueblo, heads up the Department of the Interior. Charles Curtis, who was Kaw, didn’t just serve in the Senate; he made it all the way to Vice President.

Since 1944, the National Congress of American Indians has been championing the rights of tribal governments. There are 573 federally recognized sovereign Tribal nations in the U.S., and the government’s obligations to these nations aren’t just legal—they’re moral. Health, education, law enforcement: these aren’t perks, they’re promises. We’ve made steps forward, but the finish line is nowhere in sight.

Just last week, the U.S. House passed the SAVE America Act—a reminder that debates about our future are still raging. Congresswoman Betty McCollum cast a no vote, proof that nothing in America is ever unanimous. Every November, we celebrate Native American Heritage Month. It’s more than a box to check—it’s a time to recognize the resilience and contributions of First Americans, and to acknowledge the sovereign tribal governments shaping the country’s future.

I’m writing this as a veteran—someone who signed up, served, and came home changed, but proud. My love for this country isn’t blind. I want the U.S. to live up to its ideals—not just for me, but for everyone who calls this place home.

So when you’re flipping burgers or watching the night sky light up, remember what brought us here. Our freedom is layered, hard-won, and still unfinished. That’s the real story worth celebrating.

Juneteenth originated on June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce and enforce the freedom of the last enslaved African Americans, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Since then, Juneteenth has grown into a nationwide celebration that recognizes African American history, culture, and achievements while promoting education, reflection, and community engagement.
Across the country, Juneteenth is celebrated through cultural performances, music, food, educational programs, family gatherings, and community events. These celebrations provide opportunities to honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire future generations.

Why Father’s Day Deserves More Than a Passing Thought
Here’s a little secret no one wants to admit: Father’s Day is the most forgotten holiday on the calendar. Mother’s Day? That’s a big deal. Florists run out of roses. Jewelry stores run out of diamond earrings. Instagram is a flood of heartfelt tributes to the women who do it all. And honestly? They deserve every bit of that love.

But when it comes to dads, the celebration is…quieter. Sometimes it feels like Father’s Day sneaks up on us, unannounced. You might spot a sad stack of “Best Dad Ever” mugs in the back of the store, or maybe you’ll see a last-minute scramble for a new grill tool or a pair of socks. The whole thing is almost funny—if it wasn’t a little unfair.

Because fathers matter. The stereotype says dads are optional, like the bonus track on the album of family life. I don’t buy it. Kids need their dads and their father figures. There’s a unique weight a father’s presence brings to a child’s world—something no one else can quite replicate, not even the superhero moms (and let’s be real, moms are superheroes). Dads just bring something different, something absolutely essential.

And what about the guys who step into those shoes without ever being asked? Stepfathers, uncles, grandfathers, mentors—these are the men who volunteer for the world’s toughest supporting role. Some of them hear “You’re not my real dad” more often than “Thank you.” Some feel like guests in the family they’re helping to raise. Still, they show up. They try, even when it’s hard. And they matter.

The job of a father, in any form, is complicated. The expectations change from house to house, day to day, even hour to hour. But the importance of a dad never fades. Without that steady presence, things shift—sometimes in ways you don’t even see until much later.

So, here’s a shout-out to the dads, the stepdads, the grandpas, the uncles, the mentors—to anyone who has ever decided to be someone’s father figure, even when it wasn’t easy. You are seen. Your effort, your patience, your stubbornness to keep showing up—it all matters. Even if we don’t always say it, we feel it.

Every brand has its story. Ours started with a spark—a simple idea that turned into a community. If you’ve been following I. Middleton Entertainment (IME) for any length of time, you know Myfitwatch.net wasn’t just another online shop. It was our creative playground, a place where bold designs met people who wanted something different. With your encouragement we didn't just stop at our watches.

We grew it into casual wear, and even supplements at one point. This journey has been anything but boring. For over five years, it was where our passion lived and breathed.

Back when we launched, things took off fast. New releases brought a wave of excitement, and your feedback pushed us to keep going. Those early days were electric. We poured everything we had into each design, and you responded with the kind of support that makes you believe anything’s possible.

But time has a way of changing things. No matter how much we tweaked, promoted, or reimagined, the numbers told a different story. Sales slowed. Our brainstorm sessions got longer and more desperate.

We chased every idea, hoping for a turnaround that never quite came. After our latest board meeting, reality hit: Myfitwatch.net was no longer an asset—it had become a liability.

So here’s the hard part: Myfitwatch.net will be closing its doors. This wasn’t an easy decision. We’re proud of what we built and the unique community that grew around it. We’re also honest enough to admit that, despite every effort, things just didn’t work out. It stings, but it’s a lesson we’ll take with us as we move forward.

We want to be upfront—some of our other subdivisions might face similar crossroads in the future. If that happens, you’ll hear it from us first. Right now, though, it’s about gratitude. Thank you for every purchase, every comment, every bit of encouragement. Without you, none of it would have meant anything (Team Fire Hawk).

PS: Once MFW goes inactive no more orders will be accepted. However, all standing orders will be fulfilled and we will continue to give you the excellent customer service that we always have given. Because we are here until we are not and as long as we are we will continue to provide the excellent service that we have always given.
